What were they thinking
Received from Samsung today. DSE was bad, got panel AA01. Picture was only good watching Netflix. Regular HD viewing was just aweful. I played with all of the setting and all TV shows were fuzzy both newer shows and old. If you want just for movies it is okay. If you want to watch regular cable HD channels stay away. Boxed it back up within 1 hour. My un65ks9800 from 2016 makes this TV look like a 420p RCA. Very disappointing,only positive is viewing angles were very good.

Great Overall TV
The Samsung QLED Q80R is an absolute dream-come-true of a TV. I have been using it daily for a week now and could not be more happy. The unboxing process was extremely simple and straightforward thanks to the clever design of the packaging. The box just easily lifts up leaving the TV exposed for an easy unboxing process. The set itself is very well made and the Stans seems to be very sturdy. Setting up the TV took no more than 5 minutes which allowed me to focus on what the TV is actually made for: an excellent viewing experience. The TV has an option for set-up using a mobile app which made the initial configuration an absolute breeze. The TV itself also has an auto-calibration mode which takes a lot of the guesswork out of the picture settings, and allows it to dynamically change as the lighting in the room changes. This is extremely handy in my living room as I live in a location with abundant sunshine during the day so not having to manually adjust the brightness is an appreciated feature. The stunning backlight of the QLED 80R is more than enough to handle even the most well-lit rooms which is a must for a TV in my living room. Even at night, while not able to produce the true blacks of an OLED panel, the Full Array feature allows local dimming to provide a more-than-satisfactory experience while watching dark scenes, even while viewing at night. The sound quality seems to be similar to other TVs in the same tier with decent bass for scenes involving explosions and other deep sounds. While browsing the menu features, I noticed there is a mode that allows a Samsung rep to remotely login to your screen to provide better customer service (with your permission of course). Hopefully I never have to use this feature, but I can imagine it will be extremely helpful if I ever need to utilize it. Finally the Ambient Mode of the TV is a welcome feature in the era of wall-mounted TVs as it allows the device to transform into an art piece when not being used for video viewing. Overall, I am extremely happy with the QLED Q80R. It is my first QLED product and probably not my last. The set is beautifully designed, the image is stunning (no matter the amount of ambient lighting), the audio is more than satisfactory, and the remote/interface are intuitive and easy-to- use.

Excellent Television
I recently upgraded from a Samsung KS9000. I had purchased the KS9000 from Best Buy Magnolia with a four year warranty in late January 2017. I was very satisfied until around November 1018, at which point I experienced some dead pixels. Geek Squad cam out and replaced the panel. Unfortunately, the panel did not work. After two replacement panels that were defective, the third replacement panel finally fixed the issue. Around that point, the one connect began to fail, which required me to unplug the HDMI around 3-4 times per week in order to get a picture. Best Buy opted at this point to refund me for the price I paid ($2100) for the television rather than continue to work on the KS9000. I put this towards the price of the Q80R. I am very satisfied with my decision.
I have owned the Q80R for four days. The setup was breeze. My wife and I set it up ourselves with no issues. The cable management system, while nice, only can fit about two HDMI cables per section. That being said, it is a nice upgrade over what the KS9000 offered (which was no cable management system). While it does not contain the One Connect box, I do not necessarily consider that a downgrade, as the issues over the one connect is what ultimately led to me replacing the KS9000. In addition, since I use a stand and do not wall mount the television, the advantages of the One Connect are somewhat neutralized. That being said, those who wall mount may feel differently from myself in this regard. Overall though, I am very satisfied with the build quality of this television.
The picture quality is noticeably improved over the KS9000 in all aspects. The image appears sharper, the black levels are deeper with barely noticeable blooming, and the upconversion of my Spectrum cable is much improved over what the KS9000 offered. The most noticeable difference thus far has been in the upconversion of the Spectrum cable. The image with the Q90R appears noticeable sharper with Spectrum cable when compared to how it looked with the KS9000. In addition, when watching 4K movies. I am definitely noticing an improvement in the black levels. With the KS9000, there was noticeable vertical blooming among bright highlights against a dark background. I am noticing no such issues with the Q80R. The minor blooming that is present is barely noticeable. By that I mean you literally will need to place your face up to the television and inspect it closely to notice the small blooming that exists around the bright objects. Event then, the blooming is barely noticeable. This is a a significant upgrade coming from the KS9000.
The other area where this television really excels is with the viewing angle. There is a noticeable improvement with the quality of the picture when viewing the television from an off angle when compared to the KS9000. While this may not be pertinent for some people, it is pertinent to me as I hold various social gatherings at my residence each year, usually for sporting events. That being the case, since I am usually busy entertaining guests, often times I end up being one of the people who is viewing the content “off angle”. While in the past I often felt “cheated” out of the viewing experience when this happened, that will no longer be the case due to the excellent viewing angle that this television provides!
Overall, I am very satisfied with this product, and am strongly recommending it to anyone who is looking for a new television. The picture quality is excellent, the black levels are deep, the viewing angles are excellent, and the input lag for gaming is superb! I highly recommend this television!

A CUT ABOVE!
The picture is crisp. The Smarthings App made setting up the TV so easy. Automatically detected my soundbar, cable box, and blueray player. It connected it to my wifi and registered the TV for warranty, and programmed the remote for my cable. Set up was 5 minutes. The arc HDMI connection to my soundbar allowed everything to be controlled from the TV remote. The new ambient mode is great. I have set to news scrolling from the New York times. You can set for your photos to scroll or other backgrounds to show. I am looking forward to exploring this function. It looks like it will be great for background noise. The TV has the ability to turn on my cable or blueray player through the HDMI cable. This really makes the TV seamless with components. It was easy to link Amazon Prime and Netflix through the TV. The quick buttons to these services make it easy to get to them. I also like the fact that I could tie my YouTube account to the TV and cast YouTube from my tablet or phone to the TV. The picture is a great upgrade! Everything looks better. Even older shows like MASH are crisp. My BlueRays also look much better than before. It actually has spurred me to re-watching my movie collection. Bixby is a great assistant. I find myself pausing TV and asking Bixby when or who characters are and can find out right on screen the information. I am also using Bixby for searches I normally would perform on my phone. I also like the fact that Bixby only listens to me when I press the remote control button. Overall I am impressed by the screen resolution, ease of set up, and Bixby have really had me using the TV for more than just watching TV.

What an upgrade!
Ok so after having a few different samsung smart TV’s I was hoping to be blown away with this new one. All I can say is WOW! Our other Samsung smart TV’s are only a couple years old but theres a world of difference. Its basically the same menu setup but everything just works so much smoother. Not to mention how easy it was to setup and get on our wifi network. Took all of 1 minute or less and it was all setup and logged into my samsung account and ready to be watched. Next comes picture quality. This is one of those TV’s you stop in front of and say “wow would you look at that picture”. I cant tell you how many times I stopped to look at QLED tv’s at different stores and each and every time I walked away wanting one. Once we got home I would turn on our samsung 55 inch that we had in our living room and was shocked at how dull it looked compared to what we just looked at. The colors are so crisp and the blacks are so deep. The alsmost bezelless design is stunning and looks amazing above our fireplace. Using the ambient mode feature makes it even better for those days when you dont want to have just a black screen on your wall. I would recommend this tv to anyone who is serious about wanting to add a really high end TV to there entertainment setup. Our friends and family just love it and are jealous that they dont have one yet

Great HDR TV
What can I say about the new 2019 Samsung QLED TV’s???? In my own humble opinion. . . Beautiful, Sleek, Vibrant, Intelligent, Powerful, Bright, and absolutely Perfect for High Quality 4k Content.
I recently obtained the 2019 75” Q80R QLED. This thing is stunning. Where do I begin….
-Blacks and “Direct Full Array” – My previous TV was a 2017 65” UHD Tv, I’m not sure the model number. But it was only edge lit, I could see light bleed when watching movies in their original aspect ratio. The top and bottom bars were dark grey at best. But this Q80R on the other hand, is a different beast. Black it BLACK. Now when watching 4k Movies the top and bottom bars disappear and I do not even notice them. This is probably due the the “Direct Full Array” Which I think works Flawlessly. I used to have another brand with Local Dimming and I thought it was horrible. Not enough Zones to be effective. This Q80R knock this technology out of the park.
-Ultra Viewing Angle- Samsung has a new piece of tech built into the 2019 Q80 & Q90 to help with the Viewing angle. I have walked back and forth in front of my tv and sat way off axis but the colors and brightness still stay the same. The picture still looks great, just as if you were sitting front and center. So if you have a couple of Arm Chairs off to the left and right of your living room. This set will be perfect for you. Same Great Picture.
-4k Processor – My opinion is that it Upscales the 1080p content pretty well. I don’t watch much 1080p content on this tv too much to analyze it
-HDR Capabilities – CRAZY GOOD!!! Blacks are BLACK and whites a bright and Crisp! The tv HDR format HDR10+. I have a Panasonic 4k Player hooked up to this which also outputs HDR10+. The Pair together is AMAZING. Especially if you are watching a 4k Disc Mastered in HDR10+. . . .If you can invest in the Player that output HDR10+, do it.
Ambient Mode – The Mode that you never thought that you wanted, until you use it! It somehow knows the color of my room, CREEPY. But wonderful. They have so many options for what ever interests you. Art, Textures, Pictures. . .etc.
If you are thinking about buying this tv. Don’t hesitate. Especially if you have not owned a top of the line Model before. It will knock your socks off! I Ill update this review when I have had a little more time with the unit. But as of right now. . . Im hoping I have a future proof tv for at least a couple years. 🙂

Overall a great TV, but mine seems defective
When I first turned on my 65″ Q80R I was blown away by the color and picture quality. However it wasn’t long before I noticed a black spots all along the edges of the TV, and one spot in particular is super dark and distracting. It’s all I can see when I turn my TV on now. The picture attached doesn’t do it justice. In person, you can easily notice black shadows all along the edges of the TV.

Amazing Pictures and Features
Wow, I can’t say enough about how great this TV is. I didn’t think that there was much more room for improvement to TVs. I thought that the TV industry peaked and there was no longer a reason to upgrade. The Samsung QLED Q80 has changed my mind.
First off, the picture is absolutely stunning. I compared this set next to my 2 year old TV and it was not even close. The Samsung QLED Q80 had a far better picture, color, and sharpness. Even my wife, who doesn’t pay attention to technology, noticed an immediate difference. She was so excited that we sat down and had movie night. The colors make the picture jump off the screen and the Q80 can do it with any lighting condition in the room (bright sun light or at night).
The second thing I love about the Q80 is all the extras it has. I love ambient mode and having it blend into the background, or show our photos on screen It is a great way to use the Q80 when not watching TV. I have use the Q80 to control my smart home with the built-in smartthings access. It is great, I can turn on lights, check the garage, or even start my laundry from the TV. One of the great things is that out laundry is in the garage and we can’t hear when it is done. I just pull it up on the TV and check the status.
TLDR: The Samsung QLED Q80R has proven to me that there are still companies out there innovating and improving on this technology and it is a worthwhile upgrade, even if you purchased a different TV recently.

Downgrade from 2018 QLED
Coming from a 2018 Q8FN, the 2019 Q80R is quite the downgrade. It seems that we have received wide viewing angles but the trade off is going against what QLED previously achieved. Native Contrast has taken a big hit to below average, Color Gamut and Color Volume has been reduced, Local Dimming is less aggressive which is causing blooming unless putting mode to low, plus for some reason Local Dimming in Game Mode has a totally different algorithm that suffers from grey blacks and much more blooming.
In 2018, the Q8FN was very hard to beat with what I mentioned above. Samsung needs to bring back the local dimming algorithm from the 1202 firmware update to 2019 QLEDs. I feel many would prefer a little loss if dark detail which only occasionally happened on my 2018 Q8FN over what has been implemented with this 2019 Q80R. The Q8FN was a very hard to beat TV and the Q80R should have stuck with its strengths of local dimming and deep blacks.
As for the contrast and color downgrades…if it is indeed the wide angle tech that is the reason for this trade off, I feel Samsung should have been honest so people can properly choose which is more important : viewing angles or color and contrast. If color and contrast is some people’s pick over viewing angles, they would clearing pick the Q70R as it won’t have that trade off due to no viewing angles. I wouldn’t have upgraded from my amazing Q8FN which did suffer uniformity issues but would have chosen repair versus paying an upgrade fee for a downgraded Q80R. 2019 QLEDs should have been everything 2018 was, with the improvements. People need to know Samsung!

Amazing quality!
This tv has changed the way I watch television!! When it was delivered, 2 men brought it into my home and the box was absolutely huge. That told me that it was well protected inside. The box lifted off easily so no box to have to dig down into to lift the tv out of. The stand is very easy to attach too, and in directions they give you a diagram how to install it. We laid it flat on our table on top of a blanket and within 2 minutes the stand was attached. The thing that stuck out to me was the width of the television. I told my hubby “we have never had s tv this thin before, I love it!” The remote is so compact too, and has hulu, netflix, and amazon buttons on it. I used to have to use my blu-ray player to access these but now, voila…push a button and bam, there it is! On the remote is a directional pad that changes the values seen on the tv menu (up, down, right, left). Also has anbient button on remote that you can use. I love this feature because it means no more black screen while tv is off. Never have I seen anything like this before! Using ambient mode you can set your screen with an interactive background to match your decor! Also, you can use your own photos, or artwork. Seriously, how cool? When hubby turned the tv on for the first time, honestly I thought “how much better can the picture actually be than our previous tv?” but let me tell you, holy snikes is that picture beautiful. From every angle, same vivid picture. Even standing to the side of tv, the picture is vivid. This blows our previous 1080p out of the water! Even watching Judge Judy on it blew my mind. When I watched my first Yankees game on it, it blew my mind. I could see the players clearer, their faces more vividly, and the plays were so much more active than on my other tv. The only thing that might be a better picture would be being at the game, and prob not even then! Uniforms were bright, the field grass was as green as I had ever seen and even the fans were more exciting to see on this tv. Hubby plays a lot of Playstation golf and that was so exciting to see the colors in his game. The courses were seriously beautiful! Bright colors and imagery take gaming a whole new level! Even GTA is more exciting! This tv has changed the way we watch television in this home! It has gone from fun to watch to extremely exciting! Discovering all the great things about this tv is fascinating! We keep learning more each and every day!

Like Looking Through A Mirror
A really clear mirror, I might add. I’m coming from a 2016 55 inch Samsung SUHD KS8000 and wow. That KS8000 was a great TV but I am definitely impressed in what Samsung has changed and improved upon in 3 years time. It is much brighter than my KS8000 with much better dark levels. This is my first full array TV and I can definitely now see what all the hype is about. Watching standard Bliuray’s or streaming 1080p content is awesome. This TV does a great job of upscaling quality 1080p sources to 4K. But 4K Bluray’s and other 4k content is like looking through a crystal clear mirror. It’s amazing. What I type can’t even describe it. I love it. Gaming is also awesome with Freesync on Xbox One X.
All in all, I highly recommend this TV. It’s beautifully bright with awesome contrast and great software. It isn’t perfect, but it’s getting close.

WOW…just WOW!
I’ve had a Samsung TV before….it was my birthday gift to myself last year. A 49″ Full UHD TV and the 4k was GLORIOUS. I thought it was the perfect TV. And then the Q80r came out and….just WOW. First off, this TV is *light.* Its not nearly as heavy as I was expecting it to be. My housemate and I unboxed it and put it up with ease. Its got the Samsung universal remote that I’ve grown to love, as well as the Samsung OS that is simple to navigate and has a new Ambient mode feature. Ambient Mode is for all of us that hate having a big black box on the wall–I love my TV when I’m watching it, hate that its an eyesore when I’m not. Samsung heard that and now allows you to put up artwork, your own photos, or even really cool displays with the time, date and weather.
This TV is INSANE. I’ve literally never seen picture quality as good as the Samsung Q80r QLED. Being QLED, you can watch it in the dark, or with a bright window behind you and still see get an amazing picture. I can go on and on about how great Blue Planet II is, but you have to simply see it to believe it.
As I mentioned before, I *love* the Samsung remote. They updated this one with a dedicated button for Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Better than that, though, Samsung released a new “Universal Guide” that is on-par with Apple’s “TV” App. It connects all your apps into one place and allows you to get to whatever you want to watch in a few clicks. Even better–just speak to Bixby, the Samsung voice assistant, and they’ll pull up whatever your request is.
For you gamers out there–the PS4 is *LIT* on this TV. In fact, I’ve gone back and started playing all my favorite games again because you see detail and textures that you simply don’t see on the small screen.
Lastly, Samsung has really upped their audio quality game. My only complaint with previous TVs is that I needed a sound bar or an external device to have high-quality sound. Not so with the Q80r. This thing ROCKS and provides crisp, clear dialogue. Can you tell I love this TV?
Here’s the deal: if you have the cash, and you are the type of person that only likes THE BEST of THE BEST–This is your television. You simply won’t find anything out there that comes close to the video and audio quality with an insanely intuitive user experience.

Awesome TV
I recieved the Samaung 65 in. Q80R QLED TV a couple weeks ago and it has been an amazing experience so far. We had another Samsung TV but it was an older model from a couple years ago. It came very well packaged and there was no damage at all to the TV. The setup was so easy, it took maybe 10 minutes but that included having it sync to my phone. Which is awesome since I have the new Samsung S10+. I am able to view all my pictures and videos from the TV through the gallery app on my phone. There are so many options and settings that I am still learning all of them but to have it all in one TV is amazing. The ambient mode is awesome that you can set the background of the TV when you have guests over to create an amazing background. All of the apps that we regularly use are already installed on the home page so it is just a click away. We have cable and it detected it right away and is so easy to switch to it. The picture is very clear and just makes you feel like you are there. Overall awesome TV with everything you need.

We had a Samsung TV that was only 4 years old so I was surprised by how much better this television is across the board. Getting it out of the box and up on the wall was a breeze. It tucks up against the wall, super thin. The setup process was beyond easy. It seemed to set itself up. From finding the DVD player to the Sonos speakers and sound bar to the cable box. The whole process took just a few minutes and we were back to watching TV. The 4K is a game changer. The actors jump off the screen. The colors are crisp, the blacks are by far the best of any TV we have owned. We have seen the Meg before and watched it again last night. With this new TV it was like watching a different movie. The scenes underwater were incredible, the shark even scarier. We are looking forward to watching the new season of Game of Thrones when it starts next week on the new Samsung. The smart features are also awesome. Much less calling Dad to help find a show with the easy to use remote and the voice search functionality. I would highly recommend this television if you are looking for an upgrade.

The Samsung 65 inch Q80R arrived in a box so slim it easily made it through the front door. Unboxing it was so simple it made the unboxing video turned out a non-event compared to the rest that was to come. You cut 2 cords, pull the top box upwards and take wrapping off the TV body. It included the screen/main frame, 2 legs for a stand, a power cord, OneRemote, batteries and instructions. What I liked, was the box was well designed and easy even for a girl like me. The legs while made of a heavy, sturdy, modern metal are hollow so you can slide the topsides off and slip the power and HDMI cords inside them for hiding. There are special grooves at the back of the TV where you push the cords in. No unsightly cords dangling messily behind the scene with this one. Our earlier Samsung KS8000 came with the OneConnect box, this model does not and I do not miss it at all. The OneRemote is smoother to touch and resistant to finger prints compared to the 2016 OneRemote. It thoughtfully includes dedicated one-click buttons for Netflix, Prime Video and Hulu for streaming bingers like us. We are able to use the OneRemote with DirectTV Genie so we can truly just use one remote. By design the Q80R comes with a premium metal frame whose look and feel matches perfectly with a Macbook, iPad or iPhone in Steel Gray. Whether this was deliberate on Samsung’s part for the coming integration of the AppleTV App and Airplay2 for Samsung TV’s is unclear but it is appealing to modern enthusiasts like me. Apple AirPlay 2 will enable screen Wi-Fi mirroring from Apple devices to this TV without the need for an Apple TV box. The Q80R model (unlike the Q90R) does not work with the Samsung No Gap Wall Mount. We await upcoming compatible Samsung Mini Mounts. We had an electrician install a Le Grand Pass and Seymour Recessed TV Media Box Kit with built-in surge protection. Originally, we planned to place the Q80R in our dark movie room and move the S8000 to our bedroom. But after testing the adaptive sound that automatically compensates for room acoustics and viewing distance and adaptive brightness that automatically adjusts to ambient lighting conditions, we decided to put it in the Masters. Even with the morning light streaming through our wall to wall windows, there is no glare, the picture remains clear with depths even to the darkest and lightest colors. This whole week I have been experimenting with ultra-wide viewing angles. Watching TV from the bed at night 10 feet away, creating a pop-up cafe 2 feet from the screen or even exercising on a WaterRower on the floor, we enjoy crisp and clear viewing from all angles. The colors never wash out nor pixelate. We enjoyed the screen even more after we painted the back wall with Benjamin Moore Aura in Onyx Matte to compliment the black anti-reflection and true black bars of the TV. Ambient Mode Info is a nice way to start the day with a quiet way to get both news and the local weather. Hopefully they will add more moving wallpaper and visual images within Decor mode. For MyAlbum I would like the capability to upload images into a borderless full screen. The SmartThings App is slow and lacks intuitiveness but could be improved incrementally as users grow and more products become compatible. I rather not use Bixby to control my TV. For privacy, I do not like the idea that the TV is listening to us always. But I also do not use Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa nor Apple Siri for the same reason. The sound is strong enough for the space sans Soundbar and the new technology somehow eliminates room echoing. I sync my Beats headphones to the TV for late night viewing and Samsung auto volume guards against sound fluctuations. So when I drift off before the sleep timer shuts off the TV, I am not awakened prematurely by advertisements that are jarringly louder than the shows. The Q80R goes above and beyond expectations even with our high standards for Samsung. We have enjoyed the best part of the TV; watching the visually stunning OA on Netflix, the dark action of Hanna on Amazon and the intergalactic dimensions of Star Trek Discovery. To see how dramatic images can be watch the slow motion opening of the Good Fight. Seeing Wakanda from a second time at home on this screen was as moving as in the movie theatre. Our friends were awed by this TV at our Game of Thrones Viewing Party. The 4K picture quality and motion is excellent. We see the content the way it was intended regardless of space, angle or distance through adaptive brightness, sound and volume. The Q80R delivers not just a look, a feel but for me, it has delivered on a lifestyle. The way I start my day, work my day and end my day.

Great TV – Great Customer Service
I previously wrote a review for this product under the name TV21 with 2 stars. I’m not sure how to edit or delete that review, so I am creating a new review. My original Q80R TV had a defect burned into the screen. It was super annoying and all I could look at. Samsung replied to my original review and gave me some support contact information to resolve my TV issue. The support staff did not disappoint. They were unable to fix the issue, and were able to send me a brand new TV. I could not have been more happy with that experience. I am now able to enjoy my Q80R without any defects and the color and crisp picture is like nothing I have ever seen! If you are a GOT fan, you may have been disappointed with the season 8 episode 3. When I found out the everyone on social media was bashing that episode for being too dark, I knew I made the right decision getting this TV. I never once thought that episode was too dark.
Other great features that have me over-the-moon excited about this TV is the ultra-viewing angle and being able to seamlessly switch between my various steaming apps without crashing. I highly recommend this TV!

Great 4k HDR Quality, yet I cannot use Google A
Just bought this TV a few weeks ago; overall it does fulfill what it promises: Great contrast, advanced picture settings, quality, and ease of use. Yet I find it very odd that Samsung adversities the Q80R pairs easily with Google Assistant. I have browsed the e-manual on the Tv, downloaded the manual on my computer, and read the paper manual that came with the Tv…and I still can’t find a “how to pair with Google Assistant” section.
I am deeply set into the Google ecosystem, and I used to use a chromecast & mini to control my previous Tv with my voice. I don’t like to use keep Bixby actively listening on my remote, just because it is an unnecessary use of batteries.

Good looking picture when it works
Alright I’ve bought 3 q80r TVs now. All 3 have had this crazy pixelation when gaming. It is not my xbox I checked on 3 other TVs. I dont know what kind of defect this is it’s ridiculous. I’m so upset this is such a hassle. The first lady I talked to tried saying oh it’s normal when you first game on it. I’m like no it isnt dont even try to tell me that. And it happens often it shuts off after I mess with the settings. Then it comes back on after a while and this is ridiculous. I know for a fact it’s a defect in the TVs. Its happened on 3 I’ve bought new cords I checked on 3 other Tvs in the house. Best buy saw it and said yeah this is an issue and it’s ridiculous. I SHOULDNT HAVE OT KEEP BRINGING TVS BACK. IF I keep having to I will get banned for returns at best buy and that isnt fair to me if I get trapped into owning a TV you guys made faulty I have videos of it and I also have artifacts on this 3rd set I got it’s horrible guys come on run tests before you release something

QLED is class apart
After about 2 months of research on top TV brands, I chose Samsung Q80R 65 inch. My main deciding factors were picture quality(colour gamut, local dimming & peak brightness), Upscaling, wide angle viewing, and TV OS. After getting this big boy home I was just stunned by its picture quality. It’s just class apart. The blacks are very deep without crushing the details and the colours are very very good which popout. The amount of detail you can see on this TV is astounding. HD/Full HD content upscaling is very good with no issues. The ultra wide angle viewing is very useful for me especially when I have guests over. The Tizen OS is very smooth and easy to navigate with lots of apps available to download. Bixby can be very helpful especially when adjusting settings. Sound quality is good but not great. My only complain is the lack of eARC (enhanced audio return channel) support. I hope Samsung will issue a firmware update to support it in the future. Overall, I’m really very happy with my purchase and I’m glad I got a QLED. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this TV!

This TV has a brilliant picture. The colors pop out at you almost making it feel like a 3D TV. My husband set the TV over our fireplace mantle with a drop down TV mount. He said for the size of the TV it’s not heavy at all. The metal bezel gives it a touch of class. The remote could have a little more functions on it. My family loves the Samsung digital channels. It has made movie nights so much better with the great picture quality. The internal speakers are also quite loud for such a thin TV. Sometimes I even forget to turn on the soundbar and don’t realize it.

Amazing Smart Features
This TV replaced the one we had in the bedroom and it is a big upgrade. It was a very big surprise how nice the image quality is, so bright and crisp.
The contrast between colors and blacks is amazing, I cannot believe technology gotten this far, such a big surprise how clear images are.
It has a really nice slim profile that perfectly matches with the decoration in the room.
The apps that are available are great, we were able to get rid off the old streaming box and now everything is embedded in the same appliance giving us a better looking space in the room and of course easier user experience.
The sound clear and loud enough for a bedroom, we didn’t need to add external speakers to experience a good sound quality.
Overall this TV is one of the best ones I’ve ever seen in the market and I would recommend it.

Incredible picture and sound
We have been watching many shows on this TV and it’s been a delight! I like the fact that the TV includes some Samsung channels and it’s a great variety! From cheddar news to TYT. Having all 3 services on the remote – hulu, prime video, and netflix- is also very handy! One of my favorite features of the TV is ambient mode. I try to have it on as much as possible and have not seen a difference in my light bill. The samsung apps also feature a great selection. I primarily use SlingTV and find that app works great with this TV. When I want to get some work done or stream something from my PC, I love that I can extend the display with one click! The remote access feature works flawlessly! Last but not least, I have recently started getting used to using Bixby. I find that it works really well at carrying out basic functions like turning the TV off or opening up the web broswer. I highly recommend this TV to anyone lokoing for a complete experience in 4k video and sound quality.

Unboxing & Setup
Firstly, the unboxing and setup: extremely easy and it is surprisingly light for its size and it is *very* thin. The on-screen directions for initial setup make everything very easy.
Getting connected to your “Smart TV” accounts (e.g., Netflix, Amazon, Hulu) is standard, it recognizes an Apple TV, and DirecTV was easily accessed, too. And, there are many more applications available “natively” on the TV. And, our Blu-Ray connected just fine, too.
Operation
The remote (see photo) is very easy to use and when you power on a new source (e.g., going to AppleTV), it auto-switches to that. There are direct access buttons on the remote for Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu — quite handy! The home button (“house” icon) brings up the ribbon on the bottom and navigation is straightforward with the ringed touch point in the middle. The “flick”-like volume and channel advance are easy to use and when we are using our DirecTV remote there are no issues for that environment.
“The Hardware”
Truly, the frame (it is hard to even call it that) around the screen truly disappears into the background (as you can see from the photo). Even when the lights are on, it just does not seem to be there. The two-leg pedestals are excellent — just the right size and seem to not even be there. We use a soundbar with ours and there is not enough height to put it right with it but that is actually fine with us (we have a nice cabinet with a sound bar space in it). We have tried-out the speakers with the TV and they are excellent and if we did NOT have the soundbar (with subwoofer), we would be quite pleased to use the integrated speakers. (Our soundbar is connected via the optical link on the TV; nice!)
“The Experience”
The picture on this TV is *gorgeous* — there is no better word for it. The QLED + HDR + 4K are brilliant from both a color/visual sense and a design sense. While there is not a lot of 4K content available, there are several free DirecTV channels and anything they show is amazing on this TV. We have just watched the 4K scenery channel on DirecTV and the TV are mesmerizing. Amazon and Netflix 4K content are also amazingly sharp, brilliant, great contrast, and I/we have yet to see any blurring during fast moving content. We watch “Grand Tour” on Amazon Prime and even though it is not 4K, it sure looks like it could be.
Bottom Line

This was my first experience with a Samsung QLED TV and overall a great one. The Samsung QLED Q80R had no issue transporting up to my apartment, it is not overtly heavy and easy for two people to transport. The unboxing process was overall easy as well. Setting up the TV was a quick process and we were ready for our viewing experience! The look of the TV is sleek and stunning. It is very sturdy but thin. The picture quality is impressive and is not affected by how much sunlight is in the room. We were able to view programs at various times during the day and the picture quality did not change with day vs night. We appreciated the auto-calibration mode which adjusted for the lighting in the room and was a big winner for us. Sound quality is great as well, there was no issue with this (I generally like to watch with subtitles on so I don’t miss key things but I didn’t have to with this!). The remote is easy to use which is great for when we have friends and family over. Overall, we were impressed with the Samsung QLED TV and can’t wait to share the experience with others!

This tv is so much more than i expected it to be! Unboxing was easy to do. My husband and son had it setup within a hour. It replaced a 4K tv and wow what a difference! Colors are brighter, more vivid and so real looking that it seems like you could reach out and touch them! Since getting our new TV we have been very pleased with the outcome. Picture Perfect
I am not usually one to get excited over a TV, I’m usually dragging my husband away from them at the store. With the Q80R I have been extremely impressed with the picture quality and the detail you can see on the screen. Even when watching the Great British Baking show the colors and the vibrancy make you feel like you’re in the kitchen with the contestants and when they show the landscape outside the tent you feel like you really are in the British country side.
The 65″ fit perfectly above our fire place and I really love how minimal the bezel is around the screen. The one feature I have not enjoyed about this TV, which is the reason I couldn’t give it five stars was because of Bixby. The remote for the TV comes equipped with Bixby and there isn’t a way to turn the feature off. It is extremely frustrating that Bixby will hear what is being said on a show and thinks a question is being asked and silence the show and talks over it. If it was only occasional interruptions it would be less frustrating, but it occurs at least five times in a hour TV show. We have had to go as far as putting tape over the microphone on the remote to try to stop it from happening. I think having Bixby on the TV remote is unnecessary feature.

This TV has the best picture and sound quality of any TV I’ve ever owned. Colors are vivid and has a nice bright screen. The picture stays clear even at wide viewing angles. TV screen glare from lights is very low. I love all the smart features. The universal guide, is so handy. I enjoy being able to quickly see what’s on all our available channels. The ambient mode is very calming. The extra channels included with Samsung TV Plus was an unexpected surprise. I even like how fast the TV turns on since I’m a little impatient. The sound has lots of bass, unlike a lot of TV’s. It sounds as if there’s a small subwoofer somehow built in. Switching from cable to streaming apps like Hulu and Netflix is quick. Setting up the TV is simple. The TV automatically knew what all the devices were that I connected..
Overall I’m very impressed with this TV and I would definitely recommend it.

CRAZY Quality
I mean, come on… this TV is ridiculously great.
For starters, this TV was WAY easy to set up. We had a wall bracket already in place, so apart from a moment of heavy lifting, installing the TV was as easy as putting it down and screwing it in.
Setup was super simple – we were able to connect the TV to our wifi and then synced up all our relevant apps with the OneRemote within minutes.
We then tinkered around with the SmartThings app and Ambient Mode… it’s pretty neat to have a TV that doubles as a wall art-fixture. I’m not a fan of big black boxes on the wall, so it was great to easily create an ambient background that matches the lighting of the wall behind. It’s one of those “why has no one ever thought of this before?” features…
Ok, so let’s get to the picture quality: it’s insane. Quantum Processor 4K is crazy sharp. I’ve watched Planet Earth for HOURS since getting this TV. My roommate’s also commented that the picture quality has made gaming way better because he can make out what’s going on in the screen with way more clarity.
And the Quantum Dot colors are crazy. I didn’t know we could make colors like that appear on a screen…
I’ll also make a plug for the Ultra Viewing Angle – we’ve got a HUGE window in our living room, and it often washes out the picture. Not so with this TV. The picture is as sharp and colorful as ever, regardless of the room lighting.
So my answer is “yes,” if you have the money to drop… the Q80R QLED is a great buy.

Exceptional Viewing Experience
Our family recently updated our tv to the Samsung 65 inch Q80R QLED Smart 4K UHD TV. I was originally against the idea of purchasing a new tv because our old tv wasn’t really all that old. Boy was I glad that my husband twisted my arm to get this new Samsung! The quality of the picture is the best that I’ve ever seen from a tv. The color is vibrant, the details are crisp and the whole viewing experience is much more enjoyable when compared to our previous tv. The remote is easy to use and our young children did not even need to be taught how to use the remote. It’s very user-friendly. The set up was a breeze, as well, according to my husband. All in all, we are very impressed with this tv and are glad that we made this purchase.

Best TV i’ve Ever Had
Wonderful television when my husband approached me with the idea of buying a new television after not having the current one for less than two years I was a bit skeptical. After using the television for the past month I’ll say I’m blown away. The shades of black don’t bleed so it doesn’t have the gray film on other models. This was more noticeable than ever when we watched the game of thrones episode that everyone complained about, we had no problems what so ever with the brightness or having a hard time noticing what was in the scene. My husband says that while watching sports it’s better than being at the games because you can see certain things that you wouldn’t see there. We don’t have cable TV, we have streaming services and when watching our tv versus being somewhere cable is you can notice the difference in quality right away. As I stated above I was leery on this purchase but glad I went along with it because this will be something we can enjoy for years.

Easy to assemble
The television was rather easy to assemble. Picture quality is beyond awesome! The colors are sharp. The 4K menu is extremely helpful in finding programs you always watch to include episodes or seasons of your favorite tv shows you may have missed. Only drawback was there isn’t a whole lot of extra room to attach cable ( was exetremely tight without a little wiggle room), which is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars.

Let me start by saying that I have owned various samsung tvs in the past 8 years. It all began with plasma for me. I received this q80r on March 22, 2019, with today being March 25. This tv replaced the q8 model from 2018.
So far my opinion of the picture is that it without a doubt beats the picture on last years model. The colors are once again great, but the blacks seem to be even better than before. The contrast just seems to be 10 times better.
The smart features seem to be similar to last years model and include the best of the best apps. The system is very simple to use and love how you can set items to your home screen. I wanted to watch a certain movie on netflix and it appeared right on my home screen when i put the selection on netflix, so i never had to actually log in and search thru netflix app itself.
The design stays the same as the 2018 model. Simple and elegant with simple setup. There is nothing complicated about the design and it s fairly thin.
I use the q80r mostly for watching my favorite tv programs like ncis, walking dead, and magnum p.i. The picture on each of those shows is just out of this world terrific, and honestly almost appears to be in 4k even though they broadcast in 1080i.
Just love the home screen menu, where one can set the different apps they want to have easily accessible, with no need to go clicking on different menus. So easy!! The settings menu screen has an option for “intelligent mode” which pretty much does all the color and picture programming for you. Such a great feature!! And wow how all the blacks show so well on this tv set.
The 4k is outstanding when watching various items from Netflix or Amazon. I’ve played around with most of the menu options and have it set to my liking finally. With a click of the remote I can switch easily between my security cams and TiVo. I even have the Q80 timer programmed for auto shut off every night. Cant wait until the new apple iTunes app is available. This TV is just fantastic and sits comfortably on the wall with its slim design.
This TV has it all; apps, internet browser, 4 hdmi ports, simple remote, and so much more. You best believe I highly recommend the Samsung qled TVs, especially the Q80.

All the APPS I need are @ my FINGERS TIPS I can use THE SMART THINGS ON MY SAMSUNG S9 PHONE to change channels, turn up the volume, change input sources, etc, even turn TV on & off….What a fantastic feature!!! I love how easy it was to setup from the time I pulled it out of the box, to turning TV on & setting up to use for myself & my family entertainment needs. The border is very slim, which makes it almost invisible. An illusion blending it in with the TV screen. It was a breeze hooking up my components to the HDMI,OPTICAL ports in the back of QLED TV. Its awesome how you can route the power cord and hide it between the grooves at back of TV and down under the cover of the foot stand that supports the TV. The remote controller is like a magic wand for the magician that is performing the show. SLICK, SIMPLE, EASY TO USE, EASY TO UNDERSTAND…PLAIN SIMPLICITY. Easiest remote I’ve ever used. I was able to program remote to all my components. Now I have one dedicated remote to use for all my components. THANK YOU SAMSUNG. Watching YOU TUBE, VUDU, AMAZON PRIME & listening to PANDORA on my new QLED TV is SUPERIOR! My Samsung Q80 Review
The Q80 has a very beautiful picture right out of the box. After making very minimal adjustments the colors and deep blacks are wonderful to the eyes. I have had many televisions to date and none were as nice as this without having to do some major picture adjusting. None are anywhere near as bright and colorful as the Q80 either!
Another nice touch are the easy to access and use apps available in the Smart HUB. They are quick to respond and you can also have your own picture settings for those as well. Most of the popular apps are available for the Q80 with more being added every week.
The Q80 was easy to mount and looks like a piece of art with the certain pictures displaying in Ambient Mode. You would be hard pressed to know it were a TV if you saw it at first glance. It blends really well with the room and decor.
My family use this as our primary television and it makes programs that we have seen for years look brand new and beautiful. We also watch many movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime in HDR. The picture quality is outstanding!
If I were to complain about anything it would be a slight amount of vertical banding. It is very difficult for the average person to spot but since I have had many LCD televisions, I know this is a common issue with LCD/LED panels. But, it is practically negligible and only observed at angles and with a small selection of content being displayed. I also had one issue with WiFi that resulted in me doing a Factory Reset to enable the WiFi again.
None of these issues offset how much I really like this Q80 though. I look forward to many years of absolutely spectacular television viewing!

I have standardize on Samsung TV’s. They are the brightest and clearest TV on the market. The smart TV functions are very intuitive and easy to navigate.
I was concerned about the lack of buttons on the remote. I have found that to not be the case. This remote in conjunction with the TV is the easiest remote I have ever used. My wife is anti-tech and even she says it is the best remote she has used.

Worth the Price
I got this tv no more than a month ago and I love it. I have yet to discover all the feature littered in this tv. The screen is gorgeous and there is definitely a reduction in glare than my last Samsung tv. The 2019 Q80 or Q90 is a definitely a great choice if you’re looking for a new tv. I got this Samsung during Memorial Day sales so I also got a get price for this tv. I would recommend checking it out and seeing if it fits your needs.

Outstanding Featrures & Function
Right out of the box, I knew I was going to love this TV. Simplicity is the only word I can think of to explain how quick and easy setting up the TV was. I was up and running in just a few minutes. The interaction between my Samsung Galaxy cell phone and the TV was seamless and made for a fantastic experience. The TV even detected the devices I had plugged into the TV during setup. So my DVD, set top box, etc. were all configured automatically. The TV itself has excellent sound quality (a real plus for such a thin TV) and the picture is phenomenal. The quality of the picture makes you feel you are a part of what you are watching, whether it be a movie, sports or something in-between. The features are superior and there are plenty to choose from. Navigating and switching input sources from a gaming console, broadcast TV, DVD play or a show stored on your home network, you can get to it quickly and with no hassle. The remote that came with the TV is easy to use and the layout and TV functions are intuitive and well thought out. I also love being about to display photos and artwork images on the screen when not watching TV. I am not very “techie” so I can’t speak to all the technical specifications and all that. All I know is that I love the TV and all cool stuff it does.

Needed to upgrade my old Samsung TV for GoT since I couldn’t get HBO Now to work on it. Samsung has an amazing selection of apps and, from what I’ve experienced, more options than Roku or Fire. There are plenty of TV settings to get the exact picture you want but turn on Intelligent mode and the TV does a great job of adjusting even on the fly during the show from a dark scene to a light. We have a wrap around couch and the picture is clear from any angle. A great test scene was the 3rd episode of season 8, “The Long Night.” Every scene is clear. The blacks were deep and rich and every other color contrasts nicely on that background. There is little to no glare. No more seeing my face reflected back to me when Netflix ask if I’m still watching. Some DishNetwork channels are not very clear even though most of the channels are HD. Overall, quality is a definite upgrade over what I had and, except for 8K, darn near better than most TVs out on the market.

I was truly amazed by the picture quality. I was comparing an OLED to Samsung QLED and from every review comparisons I read, the picture quality for OLED was rated better. However I went with the QLED for the number one reason being the possible image burn in on the OLED sets. I thought I would have to give up picture quality, but to my surprise that was not the case. I think you should include more written instructions on the functions and set up, particularly on setting up the color, e.g. the picture in the bedroom TV is better than the one in the living room. The TV is a great value for me. The picture quality is superior to anything that I have seen. And, that is not with 4K content. The 4K DVDs really make the TV stand out, but there is limited 4K content. So, I really appreciate the up-scaling.
The TV also makes it much easier to connect to streaming services. And, the WiFi connection is maintained and more stable compared to my old TV.

I have a sound bar, setup to the best possible sound but it is weak. Without the sound bar the sound is low, maybe because it is in a entertainment center, maybe because speakers are in the back. But, no matter it’s sound is not good. (Sound 6 out of 10)

Sets the tone for the viewing experience!
Decided to make an investment in Samsung’s QLED series back in early April in preparation for the final season of Game of Thrones. Friends and I were planning weekly viewing parties and needed a reliable tv that performed exceptionally with dark content – I’m proud to announce that it’s because of this tv that we survived the Long Night. Not only were we able to stream the content without trouble through HBO at the highest resolution possible (at the time of release) we also saw everything crystal clear the first time around. When we started reading reviews of the episode after airing, and saw a universal consensus of viewers complaining about not being able to see the episode, we were pretty shocked considering the experience we had was absolutely stunning visually! With that being said, this tv is phenomenal when streaming native 4K content through streaming services like Netflix – Friends and family alike agree there’s no need to go to the movies anymore with a television like this. The only down side to this television is the frequent dropped internet connection – I’ve read every thread and talked to every representative known to man and it seems that this is a common problem for Samsung users without any significant resolution at this point in time. If there was a way to fix this problem through a system update this tv would be a complete 5/5 star recommendation to anyone and everyone! If you’re in the market for a new television, look no further!

I purchased the tv to set up in my master bedroom. It was easy to place on a dresser. The size of the screen allows for easy reading of the apps and channel selection. The remote is user friendly, but the the buttons are small. Volume is adequate and does provide a wide use for the movie person. You can set your wants in any of the picture and volume settings.

Pretty much have had Samsung TVs for the past decade, so I know what to expect from Samsung when it comes to quality so they never disappoint. This TV is no different, picture is great whether playing any content in 4k or video games. Sound is good, and the intelligent mode is really helpful. The only gripe I have is Bixby…the idea is there, but the execution just lacks compared to other assistant programs.

Modern, minimal, stellar and stunning Q80 TV.
The best TV we have ever owned. This TV is minimal and modern. Grooves that run along the back hide and hold cords as do slide-in hollow feet. The clear and crisp 4K screen is encased in a sturdy metal body that almost perfectly matches Apple’s Steel Grey products. It is not compatible with the Samsung No Gap Wall Mount so we used the Samsung Mini Mount WMN550 which when mounted is minimal and very low profile but we had to figure instructions ourselves as this was the 2015-2017 model. Once mounted, the Samsung QLED Q80R is simply stunning. The technology includes; adaptive brightness, adaptive sound, Ultra Black Elite anti-reflection technology and ample voice-control options. The panels deliver ultra-wide viewing angles so colors are consistent at any viewing angle. Blooming is negligible. While Voice Assistant Bixby can be useful. It is distracting. I prefer how seamless and easy it is to use my iPad to push content through the AppleTV App. Ambient Mode is welcome as background decor. This includes weather, news and some lively nature scenes. Moving wallpapers would be a welcome addition. This model does away with the bulky OneConnect Box. The OneRemote communicates with the TV via RF signal for you to be able to control the TV from anywhere in the room. However, it communicates with cable boxes through an IR signal. OneRemote does not have full functionality for cable boxes. There is no outlet for an IR Extender but with handy Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime dedicated buttons on OneRemote many users may opt to do away with cable altogether. The features are amazing. The changes I recommend could easily be integrated through software updates and next years model which is sure to be stellar.

I didn’t think I really needed a 4k television cause the content was not out there but wow hdr10 on this TV makes everything just pop out at you really adds depth. Picture quality on the TV is great had to make some adjustments turn off motion plus features ees s don’t care for the soap opera look it gives. The best part of the TV for me is the anti glare coating my last Samsung TV I could not open up blinds in day time if I wanted to watch TV but now it’s really not an issue. Not sure what they used but it’s near perfect .

There is a very large (84”) window less than 4 feet from my TV. I chose the Q80 for the anti reflective screen and extra brightness. I can enjoy a crisp and bright picture on my screen no matter how brightly the sun shines through the window. Also, it’s cool that it can be powered on/off with Alexa voice commands.

Excellent quality! It’s so neat to live in an age with such amazing views. However, because any kind of artificial intelligence is a burden to technology, I’m thankful that this TV allows viewers to turn off such features. This TV works wonderfully all on its own with all the technologically smart features that Samsung provides without using artificial intelligence! The lighting is awesome, and the color is fantastic. Also, the high-definition adjustments can even make the picture look 3- dimensional. This TV does contain artificial intelligence, however, and I do wish that it did not. I’m thankful though, Like I said, that I can turn it off! There is no need for that kind of advanced technology anywhere really.

I’m very happy with the Q80R.
This is the best tv I’ve owned and I continue to be pleased with my experience with my new 65″ Q80R. This is the first QLED and first FALD HDR tv that I’ve owned and am so far pleased with the performance in those areas and look forward to it only getting better with AI up-scaling and any other improvements that may come with updates. I’ve had it for a month and am still in the calibration process but have been mostly impressed with the picture quality and having fun finding the sweet spot in that area. Doesn’t support dts via ARC or optical out so I’ve sufficed with re-encoded dolby digital out of my 2.1 soundbar with 5.1 sources which is a change from my previous Samsung tv. Also doesn’t support eARC which would be useful but am working around this in a future home theater set up and isn’t a problem but I do hope for a future eARC update. I’m new to the HDR experience, so the standard HDR10 format has been exciting enough for me and lack of Dolby Vision support wasn’t a deal breaker in my decision to go with QLED/HDR10+. The wide angel feature and the dominating brightness and color of the Q80R was enough to win me over against other tv’s that support Dolby Vision or a tv that could suffer possible burn-in down the road. The netflix and hulu apps have glitched a couple times but something I’ve experienced in the past hasn’t been a problem beyond slightly annoyed just a couple of times. Still confident that everything works as it should. I’m very happy with the Q80R.

The only small problem with my 2019 qled 65” is that the Apple TV setting will promptly shut itself on and off when I try to screen mirror from my IPhone X.

Love This Television
When my family has movie night, it feels like we are in our own private home theatre. The remote and it’s voice command is easy to operate, the picture is crystal clear and the smart features are all very easy to operate. I didn’t think a tv could ever look so sleek and also have such a realistic picture, but it can and it’s been eye opening. I will never buy another tv, that isn’t made by Samsung again.

bright room picture is excellent
I was looking to buy a 65″ TV for my new house great room. I looked at many different makes and models. You really don’t know how any TV will look in your particular room before it is actually there but…. you take the chance. The features being told to me by the sales guys were great to hear but would they be great in my house as well? The pricing was quite a bit more than I had expected to pay but I wanted that extreme viewing angle, and the ambient mode features, and the no reflection screen and the incredible picture the showroom model was playing. But would all that be worth the price?
I knew there were going to be many times that daytime TV viewing would be happening for sports, especially, as well as a gathering in the great room with lighting on everywhere.
Wow, was I extremely happy that I had sprung for that extra cost for when I mounted the 65″ Q80 on the wall and turned it on! Immediately the most awesome picture came alive and even in a brightly sunlit day the colors and blacks “Popped!”. Then we switched to the Ambient mode and the artwork came to life on the wall instead of a big black screen. No reflections, the highly touted extreme viewing angles, it was all there on my wall!
No regrets all happy at this point, two months in!! Thanks Samsung!

What I like about this TVIs that it is set up for gaming.I also have an oled but I Find that the QLED is actually just as great a picture and much less latency for gaming.Another great feature that sold me on the Samsung QLED is the Ambient Mode because I don’t necessarily want to look at a black screen all day when it’s turned off.Very happy with my purchase and probably will always by Samsung from now on.

I got this TV last 4th of July with a big dicount coupled with my emplloyer’s discount. It was the only way I could afford such an amazing product. I had anonther Samsung Smart TV from 7 years ago and there is simply no comparison. I do miss the One Connect Box but I guess that didnt work out for Samsung. Overall, I totally recommend!

Great TV
This TV has really surprised me. It has a great image and great features. What sold me on it is the anti-glare screen as it’s currently placed in a room full of windows where light was a problem with other TVs, including an OLED. Wish it would have support for Dolby Vision and a better sound, but overall impressed. A definite step up from the Q70. Would recommend.

Finally I purchased 65″tv
I have been thinking for a few months to get new Samsung 65″tv. I have 55″ from another know brand for 2 years but the picture nor the whole navigation setup/remote never satisfied me as I have been comparing my TV with my friend’s Samsung TV. His TV had always brighter and sharper picture, and the remote? Just easy(modern) and simple remote. The navigation on the menu tv is so easy. Everybody can do it, even the older folks.
So yes I finally got my TV today. I am already watching 4k movie…just beautiful.
I have only one comment and that’s about the remote and 3 chooses on it.. Netflix/ Prime/ Hulu. Those buttons should be programmable. I don’t have anything of those 3 so I feel a little bit left aside.
I can use YouTube TV/ YouTube/ and nothing.
Anyway, thank you for the beautiful TV.
I am already thinking to sell my Sonny and get 55″ for my bedroom.

Poor quality control, disappointing support
I have a high end Samsung TV from 2016, and purchased a 2018 model for my parents, all before purchasing the Q80R. I’m very familiar with Samsung’s products, and have had TVs from other large name brands. The Q80R has nice features and a great design, but the quality control is still lacking. Screen uniformity (the level to which you notice smudges, spots or lines on the panel that show up in content as “dirty spots”) was a sore spot on 2018 QLEDs, and it appears to still be the case this year. I’ve had three sets of the Q80R all with a dark spot in the EXACT same location on the screen, which shows up during certain content (sports, nature shows, anything where you see a solid or uniform background). And the last panel repair Samsung offered to do had the same spot, but also introduced more lines and smudges — the repair guys noticed it immediately after installing it. Having been on the phone with Samsung repeatedly over the last 6 weeks, I have come to the conclusion that they refuse to admit these sets have a quality control issue. Sets given to professional reviewers have none of these issues, which is why I trusted and made the purchase. The repair techs they work with have all but lied and one day said they saw my issue and then the next visit say they didn’t see it anymore. I compared it to my 2016 KS8000 set which has no issues, but they continue to disregard me. And now they’ve dragged out the process so long with false promises that I’ve now missed my return window through the seller. I expected better for such an expensive, premium brand. Obviously I’m very dissatisfied, and Samsung has lost a customer.

I have owned sever Samsung televisions, and none can even come close to compared to the Q80R 65″Qled. The Colors are very vibrant and the blacks are true deep blacks.The 240 refresh rate makes each scene transition flawless and smooth.One of my favorite features is the Ambient Mode which allows me to color match the black tv screen to match the wall background. The Ambient Mode also allows me to have my pictures circulate or I can use one of their many screensavers to set the mood in the room.

Samsung is the only brand TV we have in the house at this point. Our newest addition doesn’t disapoint. The remote is sleek and comfortable. The Q-Series sound bar makes the TV compete with audio to match the stunning video. The smart hub’s UI is set up where its easy for a grandparents and at the same time offerring many options for the guys/gals that want to take advantage of every single feature. Im also surprised to say that the Bixby assistant is great and can do literally EVERYTHING. The only thing Id like to see improved is the “Voice Wake-Up”. Even on low sensitivity, it can be triggered during a movie/show, but that is minimal. The exterior is great, I dont have the legs on because its wall mounted, but the legs looked modern and sleek to fit the TV itself. Wall mounting was a breeze and the is TV weights next to nothing(or at least it seemed for its size). I couldnt pass up the wall mounting with the “Ambient Mode”. This maybe one of my favorite features besides the picture of course. There are so many cool backgrounds or you can do your photos, or whatever else. Lastly “Smart Things” app allows anything you have samsung to pair and control by doing absolutely NOTHING. It does everything for you. OK, well I’ve went on enough. Im acually doing this review from the TV with the wireless keyboard I got with it. If your on the fence, I recommend pulling the trigger….Its Samsung, you cant go wrong!
